The Empower Network | Why I Said No

the empower network

If you are researching the Empower Network you cannot fail to see the stories of success littered all over the internet, but if you look closer you will also see a few less complimentary versions of how people followed the 90 day blog plan and got no results at all.

So what I want to share with you in this empower network review is a bit about the company, the compensation plan and why I made the decision NOT to join when it launched last year.

So firstly a little bit about this rather extraordinary company The Empower Network.

Well it certainly created a few shockwaves in the industry when it launched in the Autumn of 2011.

As a marketer, I am always interested when someone “breaks the mould” a bit and so I took time to investigate it as it didn’t seem like any MLM model but it wasn’t quite a one off affiliate programme either.   It was different and new.

It would appear that the “product” was a ready made, optimized (for the search engines) blog that you could just start blogging on straight away.

The blog had highly converting opt-ins and capture pages attached so that anyone visiting your blog and liking your content could opt in and be taken to a sales video and follow up.

It ‘branded’ Dave Woods and David Sharpe as the creators of the system.

But the biggest selling point about the Empower Network system was that as an affiliate of the company you were then able to promote the system and earn 100% commissions.

100% commissions I thought??   NOT possible!!  How would the Empower Network make any money?

So I investigated further and found that there is a $19 “back office merchant” fee so that you don’t have to process the financial transactions yourself.  This fee also pays for the capture pages, hosting, customer service and all the transactions.

Hmmm – I still couldn’t quite believe it.

The blog would cost $25 a month to get going and then as soon as you wanted to promote it to earn the 100 % commissions you would pay the $19 monthly admin fee.

There are then the upgrades of course……….

To get inside the “Inner Circle” you had to pay an additional $100 a month (on top of the $25 and the $19) to get access to the training.

Well as I was already a member of a top MLM Marketing system that covers just about everything you ever need to know about marketing your business online, I knew then that I was not going to pay out $144 for a blog that I didn’t need and some training that I could probably find in my back office marketing system.

1)   I had my own blog already that branded me and not a half naked David Wood!

2)    In the early days there did not seem to be any way of changing the picture or tailoring the blog in any way

3)   There didn’t appear to be any training for new people

4)   Their claim of 100% commissions didn’t sound quite right when you realize that you get to keep the 1st, 3rd and 5th people that you first sponsor and your upline gets to keep the 2nd, 4th and 6th plus every 5th after that.

I didn’t like the sound of it.

So I decided to make my own marketing decision ……. And ignore it.

I then stood  and watched in amazement as every single facebook advert on my profile and pages were filled up with people promoting the heck out of it.  Masses of people on my friends list then proceeded to “tell” me all about the Empower Network by messaging me at all times of the day about it.

I could see very well then that it was only the BIG marketers who were making the real money and the ones that had bought in at the beginning.  The people that hadn’t joined the Empower Network with one of the top marketers just didn’t stand a chance of advertising like the big guys were.

I felt I had made the right decision and waited for all the hype to die down!

Then followed the chaos as the servers were crashing, the payments didn’t go through and I just stood back and got on with my own business.

So why did I change my mind and jump on board with the Empower Network just a month ago?

Okay here’s why.

In my business I have a considerable web presence and one of the first things we are taught if we want to promote an MLM or our own business is that we must bring it online and start to brand ourselves.

But some of the less technical members of my team were really struggling with that and even ‘though it is fully laid out for them exactly how to set up a blog from start to finish in MLSP (my marketing system) – they just didn’t want to do it.

So I found myself building blogs when this is really NOT best use of my time.  (I like to leverage the internet to work for me, rather than get paid once for my time – which is a whole other topic for another blog post ! J )

And then a couple of them said that they had heard of the Empower Network and wanted to join.

I realized there and then that I was leaving “money on the table” by not offering this as a service or a tool to some of my team.

So I signed up just to be able to give this to my team as an option.  (But  hey I’m not daft – I decided to join a millionaire in the UK who went from starting up just 5 months ago, to being one of the top 10 affiliates in the whole of  the Empower Network.)

I wanted to see what he was doing.

And then something strange happened.

I listened to Dave Woods and David Sharpe (and WOW these guys talk a LOT) but I already knew Dave Woods as one of the top earners in two companies as well as the marketing system I am using.  So I knew he knew his stuff.

Within a week of showing it to a couple of people who had approached me for advice on how to build their MLM (but they had lost the passion for it) they decided to join the Empower Network because they had heard so much about the 100% commissions!

So I upgraded to the $100 package because my costs were already covered.

And the training inside the inner circle of the Empower Network blew me away!  This was stuff that just isn’t being taught out there ANYWHERE!

Trust me! – I know!

And more people joined.

Then I realized something else.   Dave and Dave are a product of their own business.  They are only making their money by building their business by being the top distributors in their own company – so they are ‘on the ground’ doing exactly what I am doing.

I loved that.

So recognizing that my new team members are all at different stages of  marketing knowledge – I partnered up with a good friend of mine to build my own Empower Network training website to show you exactly how you can start to get leads and cashflow right out of the gate.

Step-by-step

This really IS duplicatable and this really does give 100% commissions because of course if you plug your team into my training site, my webinars and my millionaire coach’s trainings and webinars, then you will find your team grows and then your commissions come from YOUR passups.

Make sense?

Now I make multiple steams of income on the internet and have been doing so for over a year now.  But guess what?

The Empower Network has fast become my favourite.

By: Traffic Generation Tips You Can Count On | cctldSales

It’s Google’s world and for those of us with websites, we’re just living in it.  And while the various Panda  updates have proven to be a major thorn in the side of content providers and SEO experts, search engine optimization isn’t going away… and despite Google trying to kill it, SEO article writing will not die.

That doesn’t mean it hasn’t changed dramatically, however.  Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, those who write content with the intention of ranking well in the SERPs have had to make major changes in how they write.

I’ve put together this article to help you learn what’s working now and what you better avoid is you still want to achieve good search engine rankings for yourself or for your clients.

This guide will help you get long term results from your SEO article writing efforts.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the most exciting of topics in the world and is a bit more technical than most of what you’ve read before.  Heck, the first draft didn’t have a single shit, damn, layin’ the smack down, cotton pickin’¸or hornswoggled in it.

Yeah, that means it’s pretty boring.  Skip the beer until you finish this one, it took me three cups of coffee to write it.  You’ll probably need at least one to read it.  But alas, if you do SEO for a living, or play an SEO expert on TV, you should probably read this article… or stay in a Holiday Inn Express – the choice is yours.

Ready to get started?   Take a deep breath – here we go.

They say those who ignore the past are destined to repeat it (or something like that – I’m pretty sure I heard that when I was in school).  So let’s look at how things used to work.

The Old Formula

Links + SEO Shenanigans + Content = Rankings

… and in that order.

Heck, in the past I was able to get websites to rank in the top 10 on the power of links (and anchor text) alone.  I know this because there was no content on the page I was linking to.  If you’re an SEO trying to sell your services, showing that to a prospective client sure looks impressive.  I could honestly tell them,

“It really doesn’t matter what’s on your website,  I can get it to rank well in Google for you… so long as your check clears.”

Of course that goes against what Google wants.  Just like a fresh pint of milk, they want the cream to rise to the top, naturally.  Google has publicly said they don’t want the top ranking websites to be the ones who can afford to hire the best SEO guys.  They want the top ranking websites to actually be the best.

They’ve hired a not so small army of manual reviewers trying to get rid of the riff raff for years now.  However, in February of 2011, Google had finally figured out a way to get rid of low quality content algorithmically. If you’re not a tech geek, that means that it’s so easy a computer can do it – no human intervention required.

And they’ve continued to tighten the screws… creating low quality content just to rank in the search engines is now just a waste of time, money, and resources.

Expert Quality Content + Quality Links + Warm Fuzzy Factors = Rankings

Newspapers are still a great place to go for quality writing... who knew?

One tip I’ll give you that works really well when you’re not an expert on the topic is to think like a reporter.  Pick up a newspaper and read it.  If it was written by a reporter, they probably interviewed someone to write it.  They may have done plenty of research to write the article, but there is also the story and personal experiences of one or two people interweaved into the article itself.

I’ll be honest, if you’ve never written like that, it’s a challenge and there’s a certain amount of skill required, but it’s easy to see why that kind of content ranks so well in Google – it has all those warm fuzzy factors we’re looking for.

Yes, there are plenty of classes you can take to learn how to do this – after all, journalists do go to college to learn their craft, but you can get a quick crash course just by googling “how to write like a journalist.”  Then it’s just a matter of practicing.

I’d also recommend subscribing to a newspaper.  Personally, I think it’s hard to find a newspaper that does it better than the New York Times (even if they are a bunch of liberal bastards… but I digress) , but what newspaper you subscribe to is up to you though I do recommend subscribing to the print edition and reading it somewhere away from your computer screen.  Just absorb the writing style and let it soak in.

Here’s a great list you can use – turn it into a checklist.  It’s was written by a Google employee and gives some insights into what Google wants to rank highly in their search engine.

When it comes to getting quality links to your website, I have good news and bad news.  Studies have shown that people respond better when you give them the good news first so here it is:

You don’t need very many quality links to rank well!

Which is good because getting quality links is tough.

Here’s the thing.  Google wants you to create content that is so awesome and so compelling that other website owners, including the authority websites in your niche to link to your content out of the goodness of their hearts.

It happens on occasion when you do a good job but I’ve found one Google approved link building technique that can get you those oh so important quality links… Guest Blogging.

It’s a lot like the old days of article marketing but instead of your article being potentially syndicated across hundreds of websites, your article is only published on one website.  And while you have to work with each website owner individually, the highly relevant and contextual links you get from these websites is worth the extra work.

Plus it gets your message in front of that website’s audience… which is probably the people you want reading your message anyway.   So even if you get no SEO benefit from the article, you still get the people you really want reading your article anyway which is probably what you were going for in the first place.

Basically, you’re killing two birds with one stone.

puppy makes you feel warm and fuzzy Doesn't he make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Remember only evil people like Bin Laden hate puppies.

Okay, so I could have called these “user behavior metrics” and could have thrown in the new buzz word “social signals” but I wanted to make sure you’re still awake and are still slogging on through this with me… plus warm fuzzy factors sounds so nicer.  J

Here’s the thing.  It used to be that those of us in the SEO world could do a pretty reasonable job of backwards engineering Google’s ranking algorithm using statistical analysis.

Without getting too much into it, we could look at what currently ranks well across thousands of keywords and find certain correlations.

For example, pages that rank on the first page of Google tend to have that keyword in their title tag.

If I want this article to rank well for “SEO Article Writing,” then I should make sure that keyword shows up in the title somewhere.

Make sense?

Of course, it’s not perfect.   Statistical analysis never is.

For example, if you were to conduct your own analysis, you’d find a positive confidence interval for domains names that are 9 characters long.  Does having a domain name that is exactly 9 characters long have anything to do with ranking well?  No – nothing – why would it?  However, Wikipedia happens to be precisely 9 letters long and with millions of top ten rankings, they can easily give you a false positive for ranking factors.

You’d find the same for domains that are 6 letters long because Amazon.com is that length and they get just as good of rankings but for products people want to buy.

Fortunately, there were plenty of rankings factors we could reverse engineer that did make sense.  So we used them, then abused them, and then abused them some more.

And now we’re at a point where Google uses several factors we can’t use good ole statistical analysis to backwards engineer anymore.  It’s a simple matter of Google having so much data we don’t have access to anymore.

Their ranking algorithm is getting closer and closer to having every page behave like articles submitted to a peer reviewed journal.  In case you’re not familiar, when you submit an article to one of these journals for publication, it goes out to three peers deemed to be experts on the subject and if they don’t like it, it doesn’t get published (they’ll typically ask you to make revisions).

Basically we now have a computer that is an expert on every subject on the planet and can tell if what your wrote is B.S. or if it’s actually worth reading.    Keep that in mind when you create content.   Focus on the people that will ultimately read it.  It’s what Google wants and Google’s been tweaking their search engine to behave the same way over the years.

Backlinks used to be the holy grail of rankings and was the basis for Google’s Pagerank algorithm.  When it was developed, Larry Page assumed (correctly) that you could gauge the importance of a website and a page on that website by the amount of links pointing to it.  The more links pointing to a particular page, the more important it must be and thus more deserving of a high ranking in Google.

Makes sense if you think about it, right?

And it worked great… until people figured out that was what was going on.   Then all hell broke loose.

Everybody and their brother starting concocting link building schemes that would artificially inflate the importance of their website.

The reason backlinks and nothing but more backlinks worked so well for so long was simple – a better solution didn’t exist.

Yes, backlinks still matter and still matter a lot.  But they are only effective as part of a larger overall strategy.  Google uses over 200 ranking factors (and no, they’re not sharing specifically what they are) to determine quality.

Here are a couple important ones you should be paying attention to… when combined I like to call them “warm fuzzy factors.”

Basically, this is a measure of how long someone stays on a page and how long someone stays on your website.

If everybody who clicks on your website and immediately clicks the back button on their browser, that’s a giant red flag and Google can track that by measuring the clickthrough rate and “dwell time.”

Bottom line: You want people to visit your website and stay around a while.

Improving the stickiness of your website:

Make sure your articles are easy to read.  Yes, people will read long articles as long as they’re interesting, but it’s important to make sure you use short paragraphs and include white space between all paragraphs.  If your article looks like it’s going to be hard to read, people will leave.Don’t autoplay music on your website.  I still see people doing this and it’s annoying.  I have my own music playing and don’t want yours (and statistics prove that most people agree with me).  Rather than finding the button to turn off the music, I’ll leave and do business with a competitor. When in doubt, include a video.   Putting a video at the top of your article can significantly enhance the stickiness of a web page.  No, not everyone will watch it so make sure you include text too, but it provides a different modality for those who don’t want to read much.Use pictures.  People like pictures so sprinkle them throughout long articles.  It keeps people around by breaking up the text a little bit.Avoid having too many ads “above the fold” on your website.  First of all, Google is directly penalizing sites that it considers to have excessive ads but just as important is that too many ads can cause people to immediately leave your website, resulting in a low dwell time.

Social signals may sound like a fancypants term but it’s actually very easy to understand and describe.  When someone tweets about your article, likes it on Facebook, or shares it with their circles on Google + by giving it a “plus 1”, these are social signals that real people are reading and sharing what you wrote.

That’s one way a search engine like Google can tell what the people like and want.   It also means you want your best stuff to be shared on those sites as well.

Now don’t get carried away with social signals.  Remember that people probably aren’t going to share yours salespages with their friends.   But your best, most interesting, creative content should be.  The first step is to share it on your own networks.  If you’re not willing to publicy share what you’ve written with your friends and followers why would anyone else.

Of course it’s always best to let nature takes its course and let things happen organically but if you want to give your best content a little extra oomph, services like Synnd can help.   As always, be very careful about using services that aren’t natural.    I like them because they can provide that initial spark you need to get something started but once it’s started, let it stand on its own from there – if it crashes and burns, so be it.  Try again tomorrow.

something to write with Drag one of these into Starbucks to write with... makes you look sophisticated... ladies love it too!

I’m going to give you a crash course on what it takes to write expert quality content that will get those warm fuzzy factors we’re looking for so buckle your seatbelts boys and girls… this could get a little rough.

First of all – I’m going to assume you already have some writing skills.  If you failed English in high school then you might want to consider a different line of work.

Sorry.

There are plenty of fantastic resources out there that can teach you how to write.  I think Copyblogger has a lot of solid tips for bloggers.  I recommend taking a couple days and perusing their vast archives.  It’s also a good place to see excellent writing in action.   I’m also a big fan of Cracked.com.  Many of their articles can legitimately make you laugh out loud.  There is so much personality in those articles, if you can conjure up a fraction of it for your own writing, you’ll be in good shape.

There are also books on the topic as well as classes… I’m sure there’s an online class or one being offered at your local community college if you’re serious about improving your writing skills.

What I can help you with is what should be included in your articles.

Put your main keyword in the title or your articleTry to offer something in your article that nobody else offers even if it’s just a personal story or experience.  Case studies are great too!Do give credit where credit is do.  Link to resources on the topic (basically, it’s like citing your research).  Contrary to popular belief it doesn’t hurt your rankings or cause you to leak Pagerank.  It actually helps!Be detailed on your articlesWrite for people, not machines.Promote your writing.  Share it wherever appropriate whether its on Facebook, Twitter, Google+,  Pinterest, or wherever.Proofread all your work.   It doesn’t have to be grammatically perfect but you should have spelling errors and silly little things fixed.Ask yourself, “Would I consider this article to be one of the ten best on the topic?”  If the answer is no and your goal is for the article to rank in the top 10 of Google, then go back and edit the article until you can honestly answer, “yes.”It’s okay to write a contrarian viewpoint or to agree with conventional wisdom but Google really wants to see some balance.   They consider the authority on the subject to be the one that mentions multiple points of view.Never publish anything that is comprised of “spun” content.    Same goes for PLR content.   Avoid too much duplicate content.  Yes, it’s okay to reprint and occasional very well written article from an expert but for the most part you want to stick to unique and original content on your website. Steer clear of blackhat linking practices including xrumer blasts, massive profile links, anything built by SENuke and it’s competitors, and excessive social bookmarking links.

I’ve been saying this for years – keyword density is dead.  That hasn’t stopped self appointed SEO experts from extolling its virtues from on high to make them sound smart.   Heck, I was just talking to a guy yesterday who was convinced that 4% keyword density was critical to his SEO success.  Here’s the truth.  At any given time you can figure out what appears to be an optimal keyword density for an article.  The problem is it changes.  Heck, for a while there were two sweet spots – 3% and 9%.   Fortunately, the correlation between a certain keyword density and rankings has dropped which in layman’s terms means don’t worry about it.  Your keyword will work itself into your article without you thinking about it much.  Make sure it’s in the title and put it in the first paragraph.  After that, it’ll probably show up here and there, but you don’t need to worry about it.

Plus, if you keyword density is deemed too high, you’ll get hit with Google’s new “over-optimized” penalty.  Google is on the prowl looking for websites whose content was clearly written to rank well in the search engines and they’re casting those pages asunder to troll the depths with other low quality and spammy content even if the information is quite good and useful.

What’s the keyword density of this article?   I have no idea.  I didn’t check because it really doesn’t matter.

Okay, So How Long Do My Articles Need To Be If I Want Them To Be Considered Expert Quality Content?

I’ve been asked about this many times and while I understand why you’re asking it’s the wrong question.

I’ve have pages that have ranked in the top 5 of Google for years that have less than 400 words on the page – heck I have a client who has less than 50 words on his homepage and still does well, albeit in a small market.  On the flip side, I have articles that are 2,000-3,000 words long.  Guess what?  They rank well too.

There is not one size fits all recommendation.

It all depends on the market.  But one easy way to find out is to check Wikipedia.  How long is their article on your topic (assuming they have it and it ranks in the top 10 of Google)?  If it’s 5,000 words long, your little 350 word blurb stands little chance.

Of course, you also need to deliver what the person is actually searching for.  If they want a map – show them a map.  If their search indicates they’re looking for a video, you probably want video embedded on the page.

I do understand that when you’re hiring writers you need to give them guidelines.  These days I’m thinking most articles should be at least 750 words long with much of it exceeding 1,000 words.  Keep in mind if it’s full of fluff and filler, length doesn’t matter.

That’s a lot of writing – what do I say?

Here’s what’d I’d recommend you do.  Go take a look at how long obscure little topics on Wikipedia end up.  When in doubt, you could cover historical aspects of what you’re writing about or do my personal favorite filler – tell a story.

People love stories!   I love stories, you love stories, we all love stories.

Heck, I still remember being in grade school when we’d go to the library and our librarian would read a book to us.   I remember being so excited to hear stories like The Wish Giver read and anxiously waited for the hour where she’d read to us every week.    And considering I still remember names of obscure books like the one I mentioned above proves that stories really can stick with us.

And you don’t have to be a world class writer to tell a good story… good stories do all the heavy lifting.

I’m sure there are a few people thinking I must be smokin’ something (want some?) or just completely incompetent since I haven’t said anything about latent semantic indexing (LSI) yet.  Here’s why.  I already covered it.

If you stick to writing expert quality content or hiring those who are experts on the subject, you don’t need to worry about it… that stuff all shows up without having to think about it and that’s the whole point of LSI.  Latent semantic indexing was created to identify expert quality content, not the other way around.

Do you think I spent any time reading about which keywords I need to mention in this article to make sure it ranks well for “SEO article writing?”  No.  I’ve done SEO for a living since 2005, I know this stuff inside out and don’t need to read up on what other people are mentioning in their articles.  It may sound arrogant (and it is) but I don’t need to go read about what a bunch of amateurs are writing just so I can be sure to cover the right keywords.    You will notice that I have linked to a few noted authorities for further study of certain topics, however.

Besides, Google has a variance algorithm (I can’t think of the name of it and no, not Universal Search but it’s part of it) built into their rankings so they can show several different types of content on the first page… and to make it nearly impossible for one person to control all top 10 spots on Google for anything but the most obscure of key phrases.   Basically, it allows for several different pieces of authority level content to have a voice on the first page of Google despite the fact that they may all have contrary viewpoints or recommendations.

If you’ve never heard of LSI, ignore this section as it’s not important to you.  If you’re still focusing on LSI content, silo structure, and pagerank sculpting, I’d recommend following your rankings and analytics carefully in the coming months.  If it looks like something an expert SEO guy did, you might be exposing your clients to more risk than they’re willing to take and it might be time to back off.

I remember when I first starting outsourcing content creation to freelance writers back in 2006.  I learned quickly that you could get a decent article for $10 and a pretty good one for $20 or so.  However, if you remember the old formula, the quality of the content wasn’t all that important as far as ranking well in the search engines were concerned.

That meant that more and more services popped up offering articles for $7, $5, and I’ve even seen people offering articles for as little as one dollar.  What does $1 get you?  Junk, drivel, and nothing quality minded webmaster should ever consider publishing on his or her blog.

If you’re going to hire someone to write for you, focus on people who know the topic you’re asking them to write about or find someone who will act like a reporter and get the real scoop from someone who does.

In the past, my best writers have read books on the topics they weren’t familiar with (I purchased and mailed them to my writers) or they’ve gone out and interviewed people who knew the topic.

Now that level of writing isn’t cheap but these days you get what you pay for and only quality writing is worth paying for.   Nobody wants to publish worthless drivel and Google certainly doesn’t want it ranking on the first page of their search engine so even if you manage to trick them into ranking your content for a short while, rest assured you’ll be exposed soon enough.

Yes, I know that everything I’ve described is a lot of work.  It will drastically cut down on how much content you can produce and how many websites you can manage.

However, it can really pay off.

In competitive niches, it’s the only way to stay competitive and have a chance.

In less than competitive niches, you can create content that will rank at the top of Google for years.  I have articles I’ve written that have been ranking in the top 5 of Google for 5+ years now.  It has nothing to do with tricks – those articles are still the best on the topic… yes, they’ve even more comprehensive and helpful than what Wikipedia has to offer.

So there you have it, my guide on SEO article writing.  No it’s not dead but it has transformed and for the better.

What are you doing that’s working for you to get your content ranked?

“Empower Network is a direct response company, that handles front and back end sales conversions – and teaches people how to narrow their focus down to one skill: Getting Traffic.

“The fact? Getting Traffic is easy to teach if you take out the technical and management complications that drive the rest of the marketing niche . . . we’ve now existed for 140 days, and have more than 20,109 customers who have bought our blogging system.”

have a chance to achieve what you couldn’t before (i.e. have a successful business)

“Say goodbye to the complicated barriers that stand in the way of you and a thriving business …and hello to Automation, Viral Marketing and 100% Commissions.”

“No rules. No hassles. We’ll help you build your business bigger and better so you can do more of things you want, with the people you want to do them with.”

“You can now leverage our ‘point and click‘ marketing system and leverage our ability to market, convert traffic to leads …and convert those leads to sales. This way, you can stay focused on one thing, and one thing only – getting traffic.”

“We’ve solved every problem marketers and online entrepreneurs face.”

“We’ve built our entire marketing system around a ‘plug and play’ process that members can use to generate 100% commissions into their bank account, instantly.”

“…you have a ‘done for you’ marketing system that pays you 100% commissions, directly deposited into your bank account.”

making more money you’ve ever made before:

“From this point on, as a member of Empower Network – you’ll never have to wait for another less than worthy commission check in the mail again, because you can now get paid instant and automatically, directly into your bank account.”

“… just blog daily, tell others …and learn to get more money in your business, faster.“

“Essentially, you can make ‘guru’ money …without being a ‘guru’.“

(all the quotes come from various pages of EmpowerNetwork.com site)

Turns out silver bullets do exist.

Silly me… choosing the “hard” way to build a business.

1. David Wood | Co-Founder and CEO

From his personal bio (reducted):

“…impact the world …transparent …strait forward …message of clarity, honesty and hope …#1 producer in almost every business he built …impact and influence lives all over the world …breakthrough business success.”

Side note: notice ” ‘strait forward’ ” spelling.

Either 1. those boys need to proof-read their copy, or 2. they meant to say what they said, in which case the only definition I could find was in the Urban Dictionary and it’s peculiar.

2. David Sharpe | Co-Founder and President

From his personal bio (reducted):

“…struggle and hardship …homelessness, addiction and personal defeat …he rose from the ashes to change his life, change the way he viewed the world …and change the way the world viewed him …earning more money than ever …traveling the world and living the life of his dreams.”

Two Cinderella stories indeed.

Good for them, right?

Note to self:

If I ever want to create a fanatic following that blindly buys my “simple easy solutions to every problem in life“, I need to make sure to tell my rags to riches story about alcoholic parents, no means to exist, and working for everything I ever needed/wanted.

It’s good for business.

1. Blogging platform – $25/month

For only $25 per month, you get the full monty – a customizable blog built into the wordpress platform, complete with hosting, sales videos, capture pages – and if you want, you can even capture the leads into your own auto-responders.”

Just to sum up: for $25/month, you get a blog on Empower Network (which really is a WordPress blog that’s free everywhere else), plus:

one theme everyone else has;no additional functionalities to add (like plugins);8 “Core Commitments” videos that will try to upsell you on everything.

You do get a few lead capture templates you can drive traffic to – the same pages used by thousands of other EN members.

2. E-Wallet – $20/month

EN doesn’t accept PayPal, so unless you have your own payment processor (most marketers don’t), this is your only option if you want to be an affiliate.

3. The Inner Circle Mastermind Membership – $100/month

“For only $100 per month, you’re going to get the best ongoing audio training you’ve ever heard in your life. We’re interviewing industry Phenom’s who want nothing more than to help you make more money, have a better life, and build your marketing automation machine…

…on complete auto pilot.“

$100/month is on top of $25/month, of course.

4. The Costa Rica Mastermind Intensive – $500 one time

“…which is a eleven-hour online video course shot in HD video quality – which documents in extensive detail, a live marketing seminar co-founder David Wood hosted for approximately 10 high-level entrepreneurs in mid 2011 which sold for $2,997 when it was offered as a live event to the public, and sold out quickly.”

I wonder what “approximately 10 high-level entrepreneurs” means…

Did someone not have enough fingers to count to 10?

If they are that high-level and they paid you $3K for your training, the least you could do for them is to remember they were there.

5. 15k per Month Formula – $1000 one time

See the training section below for a few notes I made on the kind of training $1,000 will buy you.

6. The “all in” option – $1625 one time

This option is consistently referred to and encourage throughout ALL the training, videos, splash pages, etc.

Empower Network has two objectives:

1. To make you “guru” money.

2. To teach you how to GET TRAFFIC.

Let’s talk about that.

But before we move on, please:

On to the fun stuff:

Making “guru” money without being a guru.

Empower Network compensation plan is very easy.

100% commissions.

Instantly.

Deposited straight to your bank.

Just like this:

John earns commission payment of $25 when Stan purchases a product, and another $25 when Kim purchases a product.

The commission payment, generated by Mary’s purchase, will go to someone else; that will be a person in John’s upline.

Stan will earn a commission of $25 when Tim and David purchase a product ($25 for each purchase).

John will earn a commission of $25 when Martin and Lara purchase a product ($25 for each purchase).

Tim will earn a commission of $25 when M1 and M3 purchase a product ($25 for each purchase).

Stan will earn a commission of $25 when M2 and M4 purchase a product ($25 for each purchase).

Martin will earn a commission of $25 when P1 and P3 purchase a product ($25 for each purchase).

John will earn a commission of $25 when P2 and P4 purchase a product ($25 for each purchase).

Lara will earn a commission of $25 when K1 and K3 purchase a product ($25 for each purchase).

John will earn a commission of $25 when K2 and K4 purchase a product ($25 for each purchase).

Please also note that:

Although Stan was referred to as a “direct sponsor” for Martin, Martin’s powerline sponsor will be John.

The “powerline sponsor” is the one that the members are sending their affiliate commission payments to.

Member M3 - his direct sponsor and powerline sponsor will be one and the same, Tim.

K2 will have a direct sponsor Lara, and powerline sponsor John.

And so on.

Easy, right?

100% commissions.

Minus the fees, of course.

On all sales.

But not your 2nd, 4th, 6th, and every fifth one after that.

Of course, that kind of makes it sound like it’s 50% commission structure in the beginning. Minus the fees, of course.

On the bright side though, when you make it to <1% of “distributors”, you’ll be raking in $30K+ per month.

And work only 20 hours. Per month.

Just like this:

en income

Source: https://www.empowernetwork.com/income.php

Would love to know how they track the hours EN members put into developing their downline…

Important to remember:

en refund policy

Source: https://www.empowernetwork.com/refund.php

“If you cancel your monthly subscription you will lose your team and all benefits and services of Empower Network.

This also includes all future services and upgrades.”

Another thing I noticed while doing research for this post was the fact that Empower Network might have a cookie problem.

Generally, when anyone arrives to a product sales page via your affiliate link, their information is collected and stored as a cookie tagging them as YOUR referral.

Those cookies can last for as long or as short as the affiliate marketing platform allows it.

Now I didn’t see any information on how long Empower Network cookies last, but in a week that it took me to write this post while bouncing through various pages within EN domain, I noticed that the referral ID in my URL changed 3-4 times.

Here’s what I mean:

http://www.empowernetwork.com/empower-network-welcome/?id=davidwood

The last part “davidwood” is the referrer’s ID.

That’s what the system uses to tag me as someone’s referral.

Since that ID changed several times during my research, my question is this:

If I were to sign up for EN right now, who’ll get the credit?

The first person? The last one? Someone in the middle?

This tidbit of information might greatly affect your earning potential and you might not even know it.

Internet Network Marketing Success Tips for a 1,000 Dollar Day

Last night I was listening to a webinar with an 8 figure earner in the industry (yep that’s $10m plus per year!!) so it was worth listening to and I was very pleased to hear him talk about some of the exact same internet network marketing tips that I was about to write about, but he explained one thing in a way that I really liked.

He explained that in order to be successful in your internet network marketing business you need to look at both your “soft” skills and your “hard” skills and your income will be a direct correlation to how you use your soft and hard skills.  What do we mean by that?

Well your soft skills are related to your personality – your attitude, your integrity and prosperity thinking whereas your hard skills are your technical skills or physical tasks or things that you learn in order to do a role.

So where your soft and hard skills converge – this is where your income is at and in order to increase your income you need to work on improving those skills.

1)       Believe in yourself (soft skill) – if you have self sabotaging voices or do not feel you deserve to earn hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, then you won’t.  Work on your self-belief, work on your feelings about money.  This is one of the most underestimated soft skills and I believe it is one of the most important things to get right.

2)      Take action every single day in your internet network marketing business – make goals and break them down into small achievable tasks each day – give yourself a task list to achieve for the week and don’t ever go a week without completing them.  What is your first income target – break it down to see what you need to do to actually achieve it.

3)      Have the ability to “switch off” what is not serving you – If you are trying to build your business around another job then what can you give up to create more time?  How important is making your business work to you?  So can you give up TV, wasting time on facebook, skype, texting?  Stop “clicking” around on the internet and unsubscribe from all those emails you keep getting that are taking you away from your focus.

4)      Monitor your results – make sure you are tracking everything so that you can ditch what is not working and focus on what is.  Tweak things that are working, to make your results even better.

5)      When you make your first dollar online – don’t spend it!  Invest it back into your business on a result that has previously worked and then scale it up.

6)      Continue with personal development both in soft skills and hard skills.  The more you learn, the more value you are giving out and the more you will earn.

7)      Always take the time to build relationships – you never know when you may be able to call on these new friendships and business relationships, they could easily lead to joint ventures.  It is proven that most people develop and learn better when in a team or mentoring environment.

Make money with Chop Shop: who, how and how much?

make money blogging reports“I don’t understand why anyone would publish their income reports.

What purpose would that serve? Is there a reason for this madness?”

That was the question one of my Facebook fans asked me in our recent FB discussion about income reports.

As Jeff Rose said in his income report (listed below):

This is why we do the income reports:

Accountability. These will allow us to finally keep track of our total online revenue – something that I’ve been horrible at.Progress. Now that we have it documented, we’ll be be able to chart our progress as our income increases (hopefully!)Truth. To show people that you really can make money onlineTransparency: We want others to see how we do it so that others can do it too.

With that said, not only did I publish my own income report earlier this week, but decided to also collect reports from other bloggers around the web.

Since I organized this post by how much any particular blog made in September, it would be appropriate for me to start with Pat Flynn’s handsome sum of $56,000, but the truth is I am too jealous of him, his online standing, and, most of all, his income.

Seriously, can I please read a single post that doesn’t mention Pat Flynn? Anyone?

So I decided to go against the grain and DON’T mention Pat in this post.

OK, starting now…

Main income stream: Advertising

Jeff and Mandy Rose are a husband and wife blogging team that are making things happen, mostly with Jeff’s financial blog Good Financial Cents (love the name!), as well as with Mandy’s family blog House of Rose.

The $10K include income from all their blogs and come mostly from paid advertising.

Main income stream: undisclosed authority niche site

My income report for September 2012. Did my earnings go up or down? Plus what three valuable lessons did I learn from the past month…

I do love Steve’s no-fluff blog mostly talking about affiliate marketing.

The bulk of his earnings comes from an undisclosed authority niche site.

The second biggest earner is Amazon Kindle books.

You can learn more about how Steve does it in his How to Make Money with Amazon Kindle Books post.

Main income stream: Advertising

The income report for Pinch of Yum from September 2012. Includes tips on how see what is pinned on Pinterest from your website and tips for getting Google Alerts for your food blog.

Lindsay and Bjork’s income is impressive, especially for a non-internet marketing niche blog.

The bulk of their income comes from advertising.

Some of it also comes from affiliate sales for completely non-food related products (like Bluehost and Thesis theme), which is very surprising.

I need to remember to ask them how they sell burgers to vegetarians, so to speak.

Main income stream: Advertising

Kirsty earns most of her income from advertising on her multiple (not sure how many) travel niche websites while wondering the world (sounds like she is somewhere in Africa right now).

Main income stream: Freelance Writing

“September was definitely a month for investing time in projects that I hope will pay off in the future.

Beyond my usual freelance writing work (which typically takes up around 3-4 hours of my working days), I was busy working on my one hour authority site project, my upcoming freelance writing guide, and of course this blog.”

If you’ve got a writer in you like Tom Ewer does, you might want to think about becoming a freelance writer.

Good thing Pay Flynn doesn’t have those ambitions, so your future freelance career looks like clear sailing…

Main income stream: Affiliate Marketing

Why did I say “about $800??

Because Rob publishes his income report once in a quarter, so the post above is his quarterly report.

Rob’s main earners were:

Affiliate sales (most notably Genesis WordPress theme, Bluehost hosting, and Aweber). His own products: Rob has currently two ebooks for sale; great to see that the time he put into writing those ebooks is paying off.

Main income stream: Affiliate Marketing

I’m very serious about building passive income projects and it’s become a bit of an obsession now as I have begun to follow entrepreneurs and marketers who only build passive income projects and stick to that business model.  I’m in it for the long haul, and know that it takes more than a month to build a real business. :)

Jay Piecha is “fresh off the boat” starting from scratch with a fresh perspective and a specific goal – to build a business that generates $1k/week in passive income.

His blog is just about 1 month old.

I like the goals Jay set out to achieve with his passive income explorations and look forward to future reports.

Main income stream: Affiliate Marketing

I’ve been getting to know Lisa fairly well recently: mostly via my Traffic Generation Cafe Facebook fan page (click on the LIKE button in the sidebar to join the fun!) and some emails that went back and forth (see, I told ya – as a TGC email subscriber, you definitely get a direct line to me).

And I really like her, to be quite honest.

Turns out we have a lot in common: we both suffer chronic MIS (multi interest syndrome) and acute SOD (shiny object distraction).

Plus, I definitely enjoy Lisa’s style: it takes guts to blog about making money online when you “haven’t gotten there yet”.

Thumbs up to your $100, Lisa.

Every month I recap the past, present, and future of my personal journey and the voyage of Value of Simple. Here’s a September 2012 “Pulse Check”.

Yes, you read it right – Joel’s monthly income was a whooping ten bucks.

So why did I choose his income report to be included in this post?

It made me feel better that at least someone is making less money than I do with TGC.We all have to start somewhere.

And that’s where most of us are right now in our journey to making full-time income online (whatever it means to each one of us) – SOMEWHERE.

Joel happened to be at his $10 mark, but he’s blogging, his traffic is growing, and if he has the guts to stick with it, he just might make it.

There’s only one flaw I see in that income report of his – he too mentions Pat Flynn…

“Blogs don’t make money – businesses do.”

~ Sonia Simone (Copyblogger)

(thanks to Nicole Rushin for mentioning this great quote in her comment on my recent review of Empower Network.)

If you are serious about growing your business, this is one of the best ways to do it.

Check out the blogs I listed above.

Figure out what makes them special, what makes them work.

Find the gems you can take back to your business.

See what you can do better than they do.

Grow.

And share this post with friends (but don’t share it with @PatFlynn please):

My Monthly Income Report: September 2012

make money blogging septemberA young college co-ed came running in tears to her father.

“Dad, you gave me some terrible financial advice!”

“I did? What did I tell you?” said the dad.

“You told me to put my money in that big bank, and now that big bank is in trouble.”

“What are you talking about? That’s one of the largest banks in the state,” he said. “there must be some mistake.”

“I don’t think so,” she sniffed.

“They just returned one of my checks with a note saying, ‘Insufficient Funds‘.”

September was a busy month.

The most noteworthy and noticeable fruit of my labor was the brand-new Traffic Generation Café design.

I know many bloggers think that their blog design is secondary to their content.

And I agree.

That’s the way it should be.

However, many visitors will never get to read your great content, if your blog design doesn’t draw them in first.

If you don’t take your design seriously, your potential readers won’t take YOU seriously.

Your design doesn’t have to be expensive, but it does need to be unique.

For instance, Thesis (the theme I use at Traffic Generation Café) is rolling out their newest version – Thesis 2.0.

If I weren’t lucky enough to have Ian Belanger design my blog, I’d definitely upgrade to Thesis 2.0 in a jiffy and take advantage of the cool new interface it has to offer.

It’s one of the easiest ways to make your blog design unique and distinctive, even if you are far from adding web designer skills to your resume.

I highly recommend you check out Thesis 2.0 for yourself.

There were three objectives I was after with my new design:

Make TGC more reader-friendly by including my readers into the design itself.Increase my email subscriptions.Make more money.

When designing your site, you should have one and only one conversion goal in mind.

What might that conversion goal be?

Whatever it is that you want your readers to do first and foremost.

Whatever your primary conversion goal is, you should bring your readers’ attention to it again and again.

Example:

My primary conversion goal at TGC is to establish a closer relationship with my readers via email subscriptions.

That’s exactly what my current blog design is focused on.

There are ample opportunities for my new readers to subscribe to my list without being too annoying (I hope).

And the results speak for themselves.

According to my Aweber stats, my daily average BEFORE re-design was about 20 subscribers per day.

My daily average AFTER re-design soared to almost double that: 40 subscribers per day.

One more example:

Another example of a great list building funnel can be found in my latest (otherwise negative) review of Empower Network.

The other side of the coin:

I hope Linda doesn’t mind me using her blog as an example here, but that’s the price of being my reader. ;)

Take a look at her blog:

how not to convert traffic

What do you think it is about?

What is her primary conversion goal (i.e. what does she want her visitors to actually do?)

I had to actually ask her what it was since I couldn’t quite figure it out.

Turned out Linda is an owner of a chalet in the area and her primary conversion goal is to fill it with guests.

You see that tag in her navigation menu that says “Australian Holiday Chalet“?

That’s the only mention of it from what I can see.

TRAFFIC ? INCOME. CONVERSIONS = INCOME.

How’s your conversion funnel?

Got some work to do?

Add it to your “must do” list today.

And here’s a little help along the way: my traffic conversion 101 tutorial.

Let’s see what my traffic looked like in September compared to August:

traffic september

Looks like I got a nice 20% cut in traffic.

Quantity has definitely gone down.

However, quality has come up – more page visit, lower bounce rate, etc.

That paired with higher subscription rates is a good sign of a healthy business.

As I analyzed which specific traffic source was the main reason for the overall drop, I couldn’t find one.

Most of my traffic sources (direct, search, and referral) went down about 20%.

I don’t really have an explanation for that.

My best guess is that blog re-design kept me away from writing as much content and engaging on social networks and with other blogs as much as I normally would.

I really appreciate everyone who mentioned me in any shape or form last month.

These five blogs were my top blogging referral traffic sources.

1.   Nick’s Traffic Tricks

5.   Kikolani

Thanks for the traffic, Kristi!

Let’s get on with the best part.

By the way, as I write this post I have no idea how much I made, so I am in anticipation as much as you are.

Note: these are all paid earnings, meaning I might’ve actually made those sales in the previous month(s), but got paid for them just before publishing this income report.

Here are my income sources for the past month:

Affiliate marketing

********

TOTAL: $1108

Difference from August:  -$843

Posting gross income doesn’t really do us any good – what if my expenses put me in the red no matter how much money I made in the previous month?

With that in mind, let’s see how much running Traffic Generation Cafe cost me:

Please note that some of the links below are affiliate links to the products I love and use for my own business.

I appreciate your patronage, should you choose to purchase any of them through me.

TOTAL: $129

********

NET INCOME: $979

And so the saga for better blogging income continues…

There’s no such thing as free bacon.

Making money blogging is entirely possible, as I was surprised to learn from my own experience.

Just takes time, determination, and a lot of work.

PS   Just did a complete overhaul of my Internet Marketing Toolbox page.

Would love to know what you think – especially the images.

PPS   If you haven’t started building your list yet, let me tell you – you are missing out big time.

My list is the number one reason I make the money I make with this blog and have such an engaged readership.

Aweber is the best email autoresponder I have even used, and I am not the only one. Many A-list bloggers I know also use it for their businesses.

All the features I just mentioned are just one tiny example of what you can do to improve your email marketing with Aweber.

Aweber offers a $1 trial month for all new customers. You’ll have access to all features a paid account is entitled to: unlimited lists, email campaigns, automatic follow-ups, broadcasts, and many, many more.

If after 30 days you don’t like them, just let them know and Aweber will give you your $1 back. Guaranteed.

Amway Business Review | Here’s What The Reps Definitely Won’t Be Telling You!

amway businessThe Amway business is a name that is considered a CLASSIC name in the Network Marketing industry, and has been a household name for over 50 years, but yet if you search for Amway scam you are likely to see a lot of disgruntled people expressing their concerns, so let’s take a look at why.

If you are researching the Amway business because you are thinking of joining, then you have come to the right place as I share the basics of the company from an independent perspective – make sure you read right to the end as I also share the one thing that the reps definitely won’t be telling you!

Just in case you didn’t know, Amway is one of the longest running network marketing companies around and has always focused on direct selling as a their method to promote their products. The company was founded in 1959 by two gentlemen, Jay Van Andel and Richard DeVos.

Amway is based in the state of Michigan, and the focus on products has always been home and healthcare products, in an attempt to position the company as one that can provide families with anything they need.

With a wide variety of products to choose from, it’s no surprise that Amway still managed to reach record sales and growth as of December 2010 despite the reflection of a negative economy. The final numbers at that time represented nearly 10% in growth, and $9.2 billion in revenue. Now those numbers are impressive!  Essentially you can rest assured that the Amway business scam reports are not true and this is a very stable company.

Now that you have some background on the Amway business, let’ take a look at the products they offer!

It’s no secret that Amway Business offers one of the most diverse product lines around including:

Household cleanersHealth and beauty productsNutrition productsPersonal care products and more

This vast product line is also complemented by the various divisions created by Amway business including Quixtar and Nutrilite. While Quixtar is a division that offers groceries and everyday items that can be delivered to your door, Nutrilite simply focuses on good nutrition.

Knowing all of this, do you believe that the Amway business  has a product line that you can confidently sell?

If you believe that you can sell the Amway products and use the sales process that Amway has put in place, there should be no reason why you cannot earn a good living with Amway.

Make sure you ask your prospective sponsor exactly how you will earn your income from the Amway business compensation plan and how many people you will need to sponsor to earn your first $1,000 for example.

So will you be able to build a solid residual income from building your own Amway business.

Well here’s what the reps won’t be telling you when you go through the presentation, and that is 97% of people in the Network Marketing industry earn less than $100 a month!  (Sadly that’s true!)

But before you give up before you start – here’s another astounding fact about the industry that you may not know.

There are more millionaires created in the network marketing industry than in any other industry.

Wow – excited again?

Okay, well what separates out the 3% that really make it big in the industry and how can you build your Amway business so that you become a top earner?

Build Your Amway Business Using a Marketing System ===>

Well have you considered how you will market your Amway business?   Now your sponsor may teach you to talk to your friends and family, but what if they are not interested?

The biggest issue that network marketers face is running out of prospects to talk to, not knowing “how” to talk to their prospects effectively when they do get them, and running out of cash to advertise when they run out of prospects.

In order to build your Amway business fast and successfully so that it is duplicatable, you need to be “showing the plan”  to about 5-10 people a day!

So in order to do this, you need to have a simple system to plug in to help you generate leads for your business.  Otherwise your Amway business will go broke whilst you’re trying to buy leads or advertise for leads – FACT!  This is why there is a very high failure rate not only in Amway but in the industry as a whole.

I  know this because it happened to me (in another company. )

After struggling to learn all the marketing strategies I needed, I finally understood why all the 7-figure network marketers were actually using a marketing system.  Once I joined a marketing system to run alongside my business, I went from struggling to profitable in 5 weeks.

By learning some basic marketing strategies and then using the power of a simple marketing system I’ve been able to generate hundreds of leads and sponsor up to 6 people in 11 days – something I didn’t even manage to do in a whole year when I was just building my business offline.

So if you want to be part of the success stories with your Amway business then take a look at this simple system to see exactly how it can help you.

Futuristic Marketing? | Oh No, Not Another Marketing Frenzy!

- Oh No!  I thought as yet another marketing launch loomed into the horizon, taking over our email in-boxes and all the advertising ppc slots of facebook as the affiliates all zoomed into action.

I mean how many emails did you get on the same topic – is it any wonder we get “marketing fatigue” from all this.  But hey……. maybe it’s because I am a marketer and so I do see a lot of the product launches, but maybe you don’t see quite as many….

So why have I decided to write on my blog about this one…….?  Well if you are a regular visitor to my blog, then you will hopefully see that I do NOT jump on the bandwagon for this sort of thing and certainly don’t go promoting things that I don’t believe it or haven’t tried.

Well Futuristic Marketing it is the brain child of Jonathan Budd and Mark Hoverson and if you don’t know who they are, then you almost certainly need their product if you are in any way a Network or Internet Marketer.

My journey online started with a man called Mike Dillard and a product he co-wrote with Tim Erway called Magnetic Sponsoring.

That book was a complete game-changer for me and hundreds of thousands of other people in the industry too.

The early readers of this revolutionary product took action and created marketing systems based on the knowledge they had learned.  Jonathan Budd was one of those action takers and is now an 8 figure earner in the industry.

What I like most about Jonathan Budd is that he keeps everything he does in mind for ‘the people’.  Everything he does is jam packed full of value and kept at the most affordable price so that the people who are struggling to find good training can still afford his.

Mark Hoverson on the other hand is renowned for his ‘ad-copy’ and email marketing.  He has the most amazing power of words and can have people hungry to buy with their credit card in hand in a matter of minutes.  Can you imagine how easy it is to build a business if you know your target market, you know the solution and you can sell it in the most unbelievable way?

Oh yeah – Mark Hoverson seriously knows how to build a business and after falling in love with his direct sales opportunity (an executive Global travel company) – he decided to buy it !!

Is Futuristic Marketing for you?

Well the full product isn’t available until 24th July, but I can tell you one thing – if you didn’t already do the Quiz they sent out, then you should do it real quick because it comes down tonight.

== >Take the Quiz

I took the quiz and my results actually took my breath away for just a moment because they were so scarily accurate I felt like they were sitting me down and talking just to me.

That’s how good they are!

The product goes on sale on 24th July.

It will be affordable.

Is Futuristic Marketing for you? – == >Take a look at this video and see what you think.

If you want to do anything online to build a business (and anyone who doesn’t is going to be seriously left behind!) then you need to be ‘ahead of the game’ – you have to be one step ahead.

Times are changing

Technology is changing

Jonathan Budd explains that marketing is just a science.  A science that is based on behaviour, psychology and producing results.   If you can learn the ‘Science of Marketing’ then you can pretty much write your own cheques and this is what this training series Futuristic Marketing is all about.

Take the Quiz real quick (it’s really good!) to see your marketing profile and then stay tuned for the video series to see how you can become a master marketer with the Futuristic Marketing series.

Solo Ads | A Big AHa Moment in My Online Journey!

Have you had any real “aha” moments when building your business?

If you’re like me, you’ve certainly had a few, and I thought I’d share my latest one with you.

I have been quiet for a few days because I have been away on holiday.
Now because I wanted to keep in touch with my business (yeah I know I’m addicted! lol)
I decided to buy a new Macbook Pro to take with me – I just can’t be dealing with blackberrys
and iPhones – they’re just too small!!

But the place where we went to just happened to be in one of the few areas of the UK where there was a complete internet black spot, so I had no connection at all.

Well after I got over the shock of that, I had a very liberating holiday and was amused to find on my return that my business had still made a few hundred dollars in commissions I had 3 sign ups into my business and over a hundred new leads in the one week that I was away.

So not too shabby.

But having to catch up with all my emails and requests for information has made me realise I need an assistant next time I go away!

So I decided to do something that I have only done very rarely in the past and that is to do some paid advertising in the form of Solo Ads – which if you didn’t know, is probably the best way of advertising right now.  Surprisingly e-mail is still the most responsive form of marketing.

Now I have always avoided doing paid advertising in the past for 2 key reasons.

1)  Because I have always been proud of the fact that I can generate up to 37 FREE
leads in a day from my blog and articles,

and

2)  I have always wanted to show people how to generate F.REE leads online so
that I can help the people who have little or no marketing budget (because that’s how
I used to be!)

BUT

(and here’s my “aha” moment.)

PAID Marketing is not something to be scared off  IF you take the time to learn, apply and tweak for better conversions.

You see I realised 2 things

1)  Some people come in to a business and need to build QUICKLY – they
have a small marketing budget and are willing to use it.

2)  Others who start off doing F.REE marketing, then start to generate an income and recognise they should re-invest it into their business to speed things up

So for a few weeks before I went on holiday I studied all the information I could find in the MLSP back office training library on how to do Solo Ads.

Now MLSP is a complete Marketing Training Library with  affiliate income streams to help you earn while you learn  so it wasn’t hard to find some training material on Solo Ads.

Click here to take a test drive of MLSP

It cost me $40 for a guaranteed 125 clicks on my solo ads.

Do you think that’s a lot to pay for an advert?

Well here are my results:

I got 37 opt-ins to my landing pageI got 2 x sales which gave me $100 commissionOne person signed up into my business as a free affiliateOne person signed up as a paid affiliate ($25 per month)

And of course the 37 opt ins are now on my list for me to email at any time and the free sign up could very well convert into a paid sign up.

So now do you still think $40 is a lot to pay for solo ads?

Now don’t get me wrong, this was a good list and the next couple of solo ads were not so successful which made me realise it really is about the email list you are using.

But you know what? – when you start to generate 50-60 leads in a day – you really get to like it.

And then your name pops right on up there on the leader boards again for leads, and sign ups.

It’s pretty cool.

So anyway – I learned about solo ads from MLSP and then I was told about a highly recommended course over on the Warrior Forum which literally takes you step by step and walks you through the whole process of how to set up your solo ads.  But the thing that attracted me the most was that Justin Glover and Glen Hopkins (both top marketers) listed their top solo ads sites to advertise with.

Which was worth far more than the measly $7 price tag – and NO that’s not a mis-print, it really is $7!!

If you would like to check out this ridiculously low priced course and start getting results like I have then you can do so by clicking here which will take you over to the Warrior Forum offer page.

Click Here ===>

And if you decide to upgrade from the crazy $7 price tag to the full classroom course like I did (which is only $27), then here’s a sample of what you will get:

•    How to find trustworthy vendors
•    The 5 questions you MUST ask the vendor
•    How to turn your subscribers into buyers in 3 minutes or less
•    How to create a simple marketing funnel that converts
•    How to write email ad copy to get a high click through rate
•    How to create a follow up series of emails that pulls in cash over and over

….. and so much more!

The list of recommended solo ad places to advertise is worth much more than the price of  the course anyway, so if you are remotely interested in doing some paid advertising then personally I think this is a great way to start.

But you have to be quick because this course is not going to be $7 or $27 for long – very soon it is going to go up to it’s proper price of $97 so grab it now real quick if you’re interested.

10 Tips on How to Get More Traffic To Your Blog

how to get more traffic to your blog

So in my last blog post I showed you step by step how to do simple keyword research to find out what your target market is really searching for and how you can create a blog post or article around your keyword and post it to your wordpress blog.

If you missed it, you can read it and watch the step by step videos here.

I have also previously written about the science of where and how to get more blog traffic– you can read this here:

So once you have created and posted your article on to your blog – what next?

Well what you need to do now is to drive backlinks to your website from other high quality, high authority sites like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Better Networker and from other high quality blogs within your niche.

There are literally hundreds of things you can do to create backlinks for free, but here are some of my favourite tools that I use that really do help speeding up the backlinking process if you are pushed for time.  But first, here are just a few general blogging tips to get more blog traffic for you:

1)   Blog regularly rather than erratically.  What I mean is when you first get started blogging, you want to fill your blog with a good few posts before sending tons of traffic.  My advice is to blog every day (or at least 5 days) – later on when your blog is more established you could bring this back to 3 times a week, but spread them out over the week.  The search engines love regular fresh new content.

2)   Organize your posts into categories to make it easier for the search engines to find your content and don’t  forget to link to other relevant posts on your blog.

3)   Use great headlines – look at other people’s blog posts that make you really want to read them.  They are usually specific and maybe have a number in them.  Eg. Instead of saying “Tips for Sponsoring and Recuriting” why not make it more compelling “17 Tips to Sponsor 3 Reps a Week” – Do you see what I mean?

4)   When you get people to your blog, make sure you keep them there by installing plugins that show more of your content.

5)   Attract people to your post with a funny or interesting picture about what you are writing about.

6)   Post and publish on weekdays rather than weekends – traffic is usually more during the week.

Facebook Groups and Tribes –  Post your article in some relevant Facebook groups and tribes.  For general good practice, make sure you take the time to read other people’s blog posts in the group and comment and share good content.  This is a great way to get people to reciprocate.  Seek out some specific blog commenting groups to help you get started.  You can even use the new “promote my post” feature in Facebook to get more people to see your content.  Click the link to come and join my Facebook group.

Blog Commenting – Seek out good content on other people’s blogs in your niche and leave detailed and useful comments on their blogs.  This WILL get you noticed and if they have CommentLuv installed, you will be able to leave a link back to your blog which is definitely a very powerful strategy for how to get more traffic to your blog.

Forum Commenting – Another very powerful strategy to get more traffic to your blog if you have the time.  Go to Forums in your own niche and make useful comments.  Set up a signature profile so that your link is left each time you comment.

Social Monkee – A great little tool for backlinks that provides you with a full backlinking list report so that you can re-submit the backlinks to the search engines.

Once you have created some backlinks from sites like Social Monkee – you can go and alert the search engines to the backlinks you have just created by “pinging’ them to sites like Pingomatic, PingMyblog.com, 247 Pinger and Pingfarm.com.

Submit your blog’s RSS Feed to sites like Feedage.com and Octofinder.com

IM Automator – just  $2.99 a month and another super little backlinking tool

Social Clerks – Social backlinks are still very important

TribePro – Another massive syndication product where by simply selecting other marketers to syndicate their content, you can have your content syndicated thousands of times through all of their social networks – VERY powerful.  Free or paid memberships available

OnlyWire – Instant syndication of your article to all your favourite social networks, works on its own or with TribePro.

ABC3K – Backlinking on steroids! – I love this.

The best spinner – still the best tool for spinning articles to post an alternative version of your blog post onto high quality article directories such as Ezine Articles, or on to powerful blog networks such as GoCube, Bizsugar or training sites such as MLSP, or the Better Networker.

SEO Strategy to Get More Blog Traffic

seo strategyDo you have an SEO strategy for your blog?  What I mean by that is, once you have written your blog post do you know how to get people to come and read it?

(What they don’t come automatically, the minute your blog has ‘pinged’ the networks?)

Er ……. No!

I’m afraid to say, you do need to have a bit of an SEO strategy going on to ensure that your content gets found.  So I have been asked by a few people just recently to share  my “on page” and “off page” SEO strategy to ensure my articles get found by the search engines.

So here is my SEO Strategy to get more blog traffic.

I use the free Google keyword tool for keyword research – If you don’t know how to use this then here’s how.

Once I know what keyword I am using, I can then create my blog post around a topic that I know my target market is looking for.

I then post my article to my blog like this:

Here’s the link to the plugin that I use – SEO Pressor

And that’s it for my “on page” SEO strategy.

How to Blog Like a Pro for Leads and Sales

Team Beachbody | Here’s What the Reps Definitely Won’t Be Telling You!

team beachbodyTeam Beachbody is a name that is synonymous with fitness but if you are researching the company to see if you can build a business with them, then you have come to the right place.

Make sure you read right to the end as I share with you the one thing that the Team Beachbody reps definitely won’t be telling you, and what you can do to give yourself the best chance of being a top earner with Team Beachbody.

Okay so what is Team Beachbody all about?    Well Team Beachbody goes hand in hand with P90X which is an extreme 90 day fitness program which was developed by a fitness training instructor called Tony Horton.  The intense exercise programe combines all the major muscle workouts to include flexibility and strength to get your body into shape at home.

The program was designed to help encourage mentors in the world of fitness, and in the process help those that are passionate about fitness to be able to earn an income from the program as well as the products offered.

The team concept encourages all who join to help each other, become part of the forum and post their ideas and tips, and the program offers workout sheets as well as helpful information on nutrition along with recipes that are healthy.

In addition to what is offered when you join the team, those who would like to join can become a “club” member and get access to the VIP chat room for further conversation and help, and there is also access to videos and more.

Sound like a great program? Let’s talk about the products!

Those who are exploring partnering with Team Beachbody need to be aware of the products being offered, and how they benefit those who join.

The focus with the Beachbody product line is nutrition, cleansing, detox, and fitness. With that being said, Shakeology is a product that is often requested by those that join the program. With the focus on cleansing and detox in order to lose weight, it’s essential that those who use the program start with Shakeology, then continue.

As a coach, you will be able to offer the P90X program DVDs for sale, along with Body Beast, Les Mills’ Pump workout, Shakeology, Insanity workout, Turbo Fire, Brazil Butt Lift, the Beach Body Ultimate Reset, and much more!

Now that you know what is offered, do you believe that you can make a decent living with Team Beachbody?

Now that you know what Team Beachbody is all about, is it right for you? If you have a passion for helping others meet or exceed their fitness goals, why not?  With a wide array of products it’s a good opportunity to earn an income, and with a  website already created for you, you will be able to share the opportunity almost straight away.

So, on that note – have you considered how you will market your Team Beachbody business?   Now your sponsor may teach you to talk to your friends and family, but what if they are not interested?  How will you find the people who really could be interested in this?

Click Here for your Team Beachbody Success Plan ===>

You see the biggest issue that Team Beachbody reps face is running out of prospects to talk to, and not knowing  how  to talk to your own friends and family about the business.  Many reps don’t even want to talk to people they know yet because they don’t know if it will work with them first.  So what’s the alternative when you have run out of prospects?  Advertising?  Buying leads?  Well of course that all costs money and if you still don’t know how to “close” these people into your business and coach them  effectively then this is the start of an expensive hobby rather than an income producing business.

Sadly this is why 97% of Team Beachbody reps will fail to make more than just a few dollars a month at best.  But it’s not just confined to Team Beachbody.  It is a problem within the whole of the network marketing industry.

In order to build your Team Beachbody business fast and successfully, you need to be “showing the opportunity”  to about 5-10 people a day!

In order to do this, you need to have a simple marketing system to plug in to, to help you generate leads for your business.  Otherwise your Team Beachbody business will go broke whilst you’re trying look for people for your team.

I  know this because it happened to me (in another company. )

When I attended a live Summit in Las Vegas, I met all the top earners from several Network Marketing companies.  I noted the one thing they had in common, which was that they all used a marketing system.  Finally I understood why (and if you don’t, then have a read of this – click here ===>  )and once I implemented a marketing system into my business, I went from struggling to profitable in 5 weeks.

By learning some basic marketing strategies and then using the power of a simple marketing system I’ve been able to generate hundreds of leads and sponsor up to 6 people in 11 days – something I didn’t even manage to do in a whole year when I was just building my business offline.
